I’ve had to rebuild my life more than once.
I became a mother as a teenager. While I was still figuring out my own future, I was already responsible for helping shape someone else’s. With the support of my family, I put myself through college. At times, I worked three jobs while balancing school, motherhood, and everyday responsibilities. There were seasons when the weight of everything felt heavy—when I wanted to move forward but wasn’t sure where to start, and the only option was to keep taking the next small step in front of me.
It wasn’t a straight path, but I kept moving forward. Over the next two decades, I built a career in information technology, climbing the ladder and working alongside outstanding professionals and organizations. In that work I learned how to help people and systems adapt, break complex changes into manageable pieces, and keep progress steady even when things felt uncertain. Those same skills now shape how I support individuals who are trying to move forward in their own lives.
I’ve had to rebuild parts of my life more than once—sometimes because of choices within my control, and sometimes because of circumstances beyond it. Those experiences taught me that resilience isn’t about having everything figured out. It’s about finding a way to start where you are, with consistency and a willingness to take one practical step at a time.
Today I’m raising two teenagers and enjoying life as a grandmother of two. My eldest daughter became a social worker, supporting others—including young women finding their own way. Seeing her carry resilience into her work means more to me than I can say.
